Review: Neogen Real Ferment Micro Essence

Formula made with over 90% skin-compatible natural fermented ingredients delivers immediate absorption and moisture delivery at the first stage of your skin routine. Total skin essence solution stimulates promotion of the skin’s natural cell energy to create tighter, hydrated, bright and clear skin.

Neogen

I’ve heard some decent praise for this unique, but somewhat pricey, essence, and I wanted to see for myself if it lived up to its many positive reviews. First, I’ll note that this essence is thin and watery, absorbing into the skin easily, so no worries regarding application, irritation or routine implementation. The bottle is quite large, so for the near $40 price tag, it’s a pretty fair deal considering daily morning-nightly usage. You should get a few-6 months out of each purchase.

Ingredient Pros and Cons

Ingredients: Bifida Ferment Lysate, Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate, Betula Alba Juice, Rice Ferment Filtrate (Sake), Aspergillus Ferment, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Methyl Gluceth-20, Water, Betaine, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract Ethylhexylglycerin, Trehalose, Lactobacillus, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Caprylyl Glycol, Trideceth-10, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Tromethamine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Tropolone, Allantoin, Butylene Glycol, Coptis Japonica Extract, Arginine, Hydroxypropyl, Methylcellulose, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Calcium, Carbonate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Adenosine, Niacinamide, Dextrin, Glycine, Serine, Glutamic Acid, Aspartic Acid, Leucine, Alanine, Lysine, Tyrosine, Phenylalanine, Proline, Threonine, Valine, Isoleucine, Phenoxyethanol, Histidine, Methionine, Cysteine

Significant Pros

  • Bifida Ferment Lysate (hydrating, probiotic, heals skin from UV damage)
  • Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate (anti-aging, moisturizing)
  • Betula Alba Juice (anti-aging, hydrating, anti-inflammatory)
  • Rice Ferment Filtrate (Sake) (evens skin tone, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging)
  • Aspergillus Ferment (anti-microbial, fights hyper-pigmentation)
  • Glycerin (moisturizing)
  • Betaine (soothing, moisturizing)
  • Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (soothing, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing)

Significant Cons

  • Nothing bad here, my dude

The Takeaway

While I had no adverse side effects to the essence, even after months of usage, I found little benefit as well. The ingredients are bangin’ so I have no complaints there – perhaps it’s just a concentration/time issue. This being said, though I have no problem finishing this product, I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing. Maybes essences just aren’t for me. For others, I’d consider your own skincare needs before digging deep into your wallets for this one (for even though, once again, the ingredients are stellar, it is only an essence, which is just an additional fun step in a skincare routine).
